Robotics Certificate Programme
using LEGO® Mindstorms EV3

About the Programme

Robotics Certificate Programme is developed by Nullspace to develop robotics proficiency in kids. There is a total of 6 levels, with each level consisting of 10 hours of hands-on coursework. Lessons are conducted using the LEGO® Mindstorms EV3 System.

Certificates will be awarded upon successful passing of evaluation test at the end of Beginner 2, Intermediate 2, and Advanced 2 levels.

Course Progression

10 hours per Course Level

+ 4 sessions of 2.5 hours (Weekend Classes & Holiday Bootcamps)

+ 2 sessions of 5 hours (Holiday Bootcamps)

 

Course Fee

+ $300 per Beginner level

+ $350 per Intermediate level

+ $350 per Advanced level

+ $50 Bootcamp discount for registering for any two levels (within same holiday period)

Evaluation Test

+ Evaluation Test is administered at the end of Beginner 2, Intermediate 2, and Advanced 2 level to ascertain suitability for progression.

+ Evaluation test covers theory, programming, and hands-on robot construction.

+ Certificates will be award upon successful passing of evaluation.

 

Coming with Robotics Background?

+ Students with prior experience with LEGO Mindstorms robotics can sit for our evaluation test to ascertain which course level to register for.

+ Evaluation test is chargeable at $50, covers theory, programming, and hands-on robot construction.

+ Evaluation test is open book, students may bring any notes or material they may have.

Robotics Certificate Programme: Beginner 1

Recommended Age: 8+

This is an introductory level course for the LEGO® Mindstorms robotics system. It provides the foundation for the LEGO® Robotics Certificate Program. Topics covered include graphical based programming and basic motor movement control.

Robotics Certificate Programme: Beginner 2

Prerequisite: Beginner 1 Course

In this course, students will be taught basic programming concepts such as conditionals (IF-ELSE statements) and loops (repetition and terminating conditions). Various mini challenges will be tackled at the end of every session. Beginner 2 Evaluation Session is included in the Beginner 2 course.

Robotics Certificate Programme: Intermediate 1

Prerequisite: Robotics Certificate Programme Beginner 2

In this course, students will be presented with more programming concepts such as manipulating of data variables, as well as taking a holistic problem solving approach (mechanical design and software solution). Advanced line tracing algorithms will be presented to allow students to understand more complicated programming logic.

Prerequisite: Robotics Certificate Programme Intermediate 1

In this course, students will be wholly focused on competition mission practice. Actual past year competition playfields will be used to illustrate lesson points and will be used as practice. Students will have to work towards a programmatic and mechanical solution to accomplish multiple objectives under constraints.

Competitive Class

Prerequisite: Robotics Certificate Programme Advanced 2

Upon completion of the Advanced Program, students are recommended to take part in upcoming local competitions to gain exposure and widen their knowledge and application of robotics. Some of the competitions include, Innovation Design Engineering Series, National Junior Robotics Competition and FIRST LEGO® League. Students from this competitive class will be invited to form teams to represent us in these competitions.

In this course, students will be exposed to different challenges and missions for them to practise and hone their skills. Students will have to work towards a programmatic and mechanical solution to accomplish multiple objectives under constraints and minimal supervision.
